PIPES

A young woman hears noises like the screaming of someone, or of a crowd, through the walls and pipes of her old ancestral house. She has become an insomniac and constantly finds herself waking from sleep. She persistently chases the sounds. In the front yard, a young man and a woman who are cooking for a ceremony, assume that she is mistaken and the voices she hears are those of their neighbor’s. One night, voices are heard from the bathroom in the yard. She follows the sounds, as if summoned by it, and walks towards the bathroom and keeps listening to them. In the morning, the house is empty, and the yard clean; the pool’s water valve is open and it outpours, and a dress sways with the wind, hung on the clothesline.
