Director's Statement

Cutstein is my first short film. The idea for this film came to my mind in the early days of the coronavirus outbreak. All governments tried to control the disease and the task of televisions and other press was to spread the right news and inform the people of the health protocols. As you know the actions of officials of some countries were not acceptable and some media tried to normalize the events, you know the censorship of events. Cutstein critiques the existence of censorship in all media and narrates my life as an editor.
It’s an autobiographical film that tries to retell the events using Frankenstein’s story. At the time I made the film, access to facilities and people was very difficult due to quarantine, so l played the role of the director, cameraman, voice, and the editor of this film. I did my best to make a movie worth watching once with my cell phone and the limited equipment I had. For expressing what I feel, I found Asger Hamerik’s music so appropriate: Nordic Suite No. 1 (1872).

At the end, Thanks to my sister Marjan for helping me a lot in the filming/camera. And thank you so much to my parents for playing a role in my first project.
I hope you enjoy watching Cutstein. Stay safe and healthy!
