Zahra Mojahed

Zahra Mojahed is an Afghan refugee filmmaker and storyteller, now based in Germany. Her journey began in Greece in 2019, where she first turned to film as a tool to share the struggles of women and refugees.
She is currently a storyteller with the 1000 Dreams Project, an initiative by Witness Change amplifying refugee voices (1000 Dreams Project). Her work has been featured by the Pulitzer Center and showcased at the European Parliament in Strasbourg (Boell Foundation).
🎬 At the FFTG Awards Film Fest® 2024, Zahra’s short film Voiceless received Winner – Best Film on Social Issues, a Special Mention for Best Female Filmmaker, and multiple nominations including Best Music, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, and Best Director (FFTG Awards).
Her earlier short Nilo (2021) was praised at European festivals for its intimate perspective on Afghan women’s realities. Most recently, Voiceless (2024) cemented her place as a bold voice challenging social injustice.
Today, Zahra joins the FFTG Awards 2025 Jury — We, The Chosen Ones®, the festival’s invitation-only international jury drawn from its most celebrated official selections, nominees, and winners. From refugee camps to global recognition, Zahra’s journey embodies FFTG’s vision: where films and filmmakers live on.
