1974: Nineteen-year-old Sam is travelling across California, grabbing rides where he can. When he accepts one from a Hippie, the man tries to get him to join a cult, and Sam finds himself assisting the Hippie in a double murder. Sam rejects the cult, but the killings empower him to confront two aspects of his personality, manifested as a man and a girl. Sam must choose.
